FAQ’s

What is Prepaid Electric Service?

Prepaid Electric Service is a voluntary program where electric charges are paid in advance of delivery.

What accounts are eligible?

Accounts that receive single-phase service under a residential rate are eligible.  Residential accounts that are net metered or require non-standard metering are not eligible to participate.

What does Prepaid Electric Service cost?

Prepaid electric service has no additional cost.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Prepaid accounts are not subject to deposits.

Are there any fees if I am disconnected?

No disconnect, reconnect or late payment fees are charged.

If I am disconnected, how can I get reconnected?

Once a minimum credit balance of $20.00 is re-established, the electric service will be reconnected.

What types of payments are accepted?

Credit card, debit card, cash or MoneyGram.  Checks are not accepted.

How often do I need to make payments?

Payments are determined by the customer and can be made daily, weekly or monthly in order to maintain a credit balance.

What happens if my balance is $0?

Prepaid accounts must maintain a credit balance to avoid disconnection.

How are Prepaid accounts billed?

Prepaid account balances are calculated daily.  Prepaid customers will not receive a monthly bill.

How can I check my prepaid balance and make payments?

Prepaid accounts are easily managed via SmartHub on our website or the customer’s mobile device.

Are notifications sent?

Yes.  Account status notifications are sent via email and/or text message.

What if I don’t receive a notification?

The Prepaid customer is solely responsible for maintaining current contact information in SmartHub in order to receive notifications.  Failure to receive notifications does not exempt the service from disconnection.

Can I choose to move to non-Prepaid billing at any time?

Prepaid Electric Service can be converted back to a non-Prepaid electric service at any time.

How do I sign up?
